When it comes to cooking in my air fryer, an easy air fryer recipe is my go-to. Especially with two busy teens and a packed schedule, any chance I get to save time in the kitchen, I grab it. Most of the recipes I post for the air fryer are usually quick and pretty easy.

Who doesn’t love Crispy Chicken Wings and Potato Skins that can be made in virtually half the time it takes in a conventional oven or deep fryer? Don’t forget there is also NO GREASE, which makes the air fryer recipe a bit healthier for you too.

All of my air fryer recipes are created using the Nuwave Brio 6 Qt. Air Fryer (see link below). I highly recommend the Nuwave brand and have also purchased and used their other small appliances on a daily basis.

My favorite part of an air fryer? You’re never more than 10 minutes away from delicious easy recipes that satisfy your entire family.

How to Cook Air Fryer Toasted Ravioli

If you are new to air fryer cooking, here are a few great products and books to get you started. Once you cook with an air fryer, going back to cooking the conventional way will be very difficult.

dipping air fryer ravioli in egg

Ingredients

  • 1 package of frozen ravioli (I used cheese ravioli but you can use any of our favorite flavors)
  • 1 cup Bread Crumbs or panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese
  • 1 Tbs. Italian Seasoning
  • 1 Tbs. Garlic Powder
  • 2 large eggs – beaten
  • Cooking Spray or a spritz of olive oil spray
  • Easy 20-Minute Marinara Sauce (see link for the recipe below)

Directions

Prep time: 10

Cook time: 15

Total time: 25

In a medium bowl combine the bread crumbs, parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder.

In another small bowl beat the 2 eggs.

Lightly spray the inside of your air fryer with cooking spray.

breading air fryer ravioli

Dip the ravioli into the egg mixture and then into the breadcrumb mixture. Make sure you coat both sides well.

Preheat your air fryer for 5 minutes. Not all air fryers require this, but it’s a good idea.

Preheat your air fryer for 5 minutes. Not all air fryers require this, but it’s a good idea.

Place the breaded ravioli in a single layer in your air fryer basket.

Set your cook time to 350 degrees for 15 minutes. With tongs or a fork, turn your ravioli over after 8 minutes.

Serve with our favorite 20-Minute Marinara dipping sauce. Or try dipping it in pesto sauce!

Crispy on the outside and soft and creamy on the inside. These are sure to be a huge hit at your next party, event, or dinner menu.

Recipe Notes: Most air fryers have a nonstick basket, I do this only as a precautionary measure since you will be turning them halfway through cooking.

If you have any leftovers, keep them refrigerated in an airtight container and reheat them in a toaster oven.

These air-fried ravioli make a great appetizer for guests but also a yummy side dish.

Aldi’s Toasted Ravioli Hack

To start with, I’m new to Aldi’s since it’s just recently come to our neighborhood. So while I was doing research for this post, I was shocked to find out that Aldi’s carries a product called Mama Cozzi’s Toasted Ravioli. There’s actually a whole cult following of people who are obsessed with these frozen ravioli.

So what’s a girl to do? Go to Aldi’s and try them out! I’ve been able to find three different flavors: spinach and cheese, four cheese, and meat and cheese. I’d say by far, the four cheese is my favorite.

So what’s the hack? If you’re craving some air fried ravioli but don’t have the extra time (or energy) to batter them, use Aldi’s toasted ravioli! Depending on your air fryer brand, you’ll need to play around with how long to leave them in the fryer. Just remember to flip them mid-way so each side gets nice and toasty.

If you’re feeling spicy, instead of marinara sauce, use my recipe for a quick and easy boom boom sauce. There is something about pairing ravioli with a spicy dipping sauce that just screams delicious appetizer to me. Make them for a big game, a low-key dinner party, or a backyard BBQ option for those who don’t eat meat.

Fried Ravioli Has An Interesting History

Fried ravioli, or toasted ravioli, whatever you prefer to call it, was actually created by accident. Seriously! According to the New York Times, fried ravioli was first “created” in the 1950s at the Amighetti Bakery in St. Louis. But like I said, it was a complete accident!

Apparently, a bit of miscommunication in the kitchen caused a prep cook to put a batch of ravioli in a pot of boiling oil instead of a boiling pot of water. The result, well, turns out to be legendary. So maybe we say a giant thank you to a historical mistake?

Interested in the original recipe that was first published? I found the original toasted ravioli recipe in the New York Times from way back in the day. Ok, it was 1987, but still… As a note, these are fried ravioli, so if you’re watching your waistline, these are still better done in your air fryer.
