With two hungry teenage boys, making a hearty flavorful meal that will fill them up and keep them satisfied is one of my top priorities. That’s why pasta is a must have staple around our house. Coming up with different ways to serve it can sometimes be a challenge.
This easy Marinara recipe is always a hit with the teens and the hubby. My favorite part of all is that it can be ready in 20 minutes without any lack of flavor. The herbs and spices that are added are just the right amounts to give it that all day taste.
Now we all know Marinara and any other tomato based sauces only get better with time. Please feel free to let this sauce simmer on the stove a little longer for an even better, richer, sauce. If all you have is 20 minutes, don’t fret my dear. This easy Marinara recipe is a crowd pleaser every single time.
One of my favorite things about this recipe is that all of the ingredients you probably have in your pantry already. I always keep a few jars of tomatoes in my cupboard at all times. Crushed tomatoes, diced tomatoes and stewed tomatoes I always have on hand. Since this recipe cooks up so quickly using basic pantry ingredients, last minute dinner ideas are never an issue.
20 Minute Easy Marinara Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 Tablespoon olive oil
- 3 cloves of garlic – minced
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 28 oz. can crushed tomatoes
- 2 – 3 bay leaves
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1 – 2 Tablespoons granulated sugar
- 2 Tablespoons tomato paste
- salt & pepper to taste
Instructions:
- On medium heat, heat the oil and garlic in a medium sauce pan. Saute the garlic just until fragrant (1 – 2 minutes).
- Add the tomatoes, bay leaves, oregano, sugar, tomato paste, salt & pepper.
- Simmer on low to medium heat for 20 minutes.
- Serve over your favorite pasta or on the side of your favorite appetizers.
This Easy Marinara Recipe stores very well. You can keep it in the freezer (I use ziploc freezer bags) for up to 6 months. Or keep in the fridge in an air tight container for 7 – 10 days.
