Something about the color of Homestead Blue from Fusion Mineral Paint just screams comfort. I think back to when I was young, so many of my relatives has their kitchens done in blue and white. From flowers to prairie figures, hearts and patchwork. It just brings me back to a much simpler time and holds a warm place in my heart.
That is why when it was time to pick my colors from Fusion Mineral Paint for the purpose of this post, I knew right away what I was looking for. We found this coffee table in our basement when we moved into the new house. It was a good solid piece of furniture, but it was lacking character. It was also dinged up in quite a few places, so I knew this would be a great canvas for good quality paint.

Over the last year, I have had so much fun doing furniture makeovers for our home. A few of my favorites are the Dining Room Buffet, Sewing Table, and the Teens Dresser. I can honestly say that our new living room coffee table is at the top of the list of favorites now. A drastic makeover with stunning paint that took just a little over a day to complete.
We had the pleasure of working with Fusion Mineral Paint for this project. I had personally never used this brand of paint before, but a few of my fellow bloggers could not speak highly enough about the product. I was so excited to give it a try after the rave reviews I had heard from all of my girlfriends.
There are so many gorgeous colors to choose from, how could I even pick one? I decided to go with the Homestead Blue because it reminded me of my childhood. I paired that with Casement White just in case I wanted to add some dimension to the piece.
Fusion Mineral Paints are known to not need a protective coating once your piece has cured fully. Since this coffee table gets a lot of use (teens and their video game sessions) I decided to put on a layer of Fusion Clear Tough Coat just to keep it safe and looking gorgeous for a long time.
There were some pretty rough damage areas on the top of the wood. I gave the whole table a quick sand down with my electric sander just to even everything out.
After two coats of the creamy homestead blue, I was in love. It went on smooth and spread evenly over the whole surface of the table.
I love the solid blue look, so I did not add any of the casement to piece.
