I am happy to be a part of the Fab Furniture Flipping Contest™ once again this month. This month the theme for the contest is “Color My World“sponsored by Velvet finishes paint. Which is why I knew right away I had to makeover something for the most colorful friend I have, my Reno. He is a fun loving quirky dog with such a unique personality. With all of his energy, there are toys scattered from one end of the house to the other. That’s why this Ordinary Magazine Rack Turned Colorful Dog Toy Storage was just the right project for me.

I was very excited to try Velvet Finishes. The colors available are so fun and vibrant. There are 21 gorgeous colors to choose from, a fantastic prep product called Ready to make sure your surface is clean and ready for paint, different shades of glaze, gel and many other great products for your painting needs.
For this project, I decided to give my Reno a very clean manly looking gray (Timeless) with bright green (Enchanting) accents on his new toy box. I was very happy with the results I got from velvet finishes. The paint itself went on so smooth and even. I did two coats of the gray just to be sure all of the white was covered completely.
With accents of the bold green on the sides and some of the front pieces it really matches his spunky character. After a bit of personalization using my new Cricut Explore Air, I am in love with this new puppy toy storage. I think he loves it too don’t you think?
This child Puppy gets at least one new toy a week from his nana. That is no joke. My mom thinks he needs a bone and a new toy every time she comes to visit. They even have a game they play. She gives him a bone and sits down at the table, once he is done with his bone he goes right to her purse. Opens up the top pocket and pulls out the new toy, every single time. While she is visiting he won’t play with any other toy except the new one. It is a special kind of routine and so funny to watch. I am glad I finally found something that will hold them all …for now.
I had so much fun creating this project and joining all of the fantastic ladies to do the Fab Furniture Flippin Contest this month. If you are a blogger and are interested in the contest you can contact [email protected] for more information.

My daughter says our dog should have this too. It is just sooo special with how you put Reno’s name on it and painted it great colors. I also like how it holds a lot of toys, but is vertical and takes up less space. Well, this is another great creation by you that I love.
This is a GREAT idea!! I would never have thought of using it for that!!
What a great repurpose for the furry kids, a perfect piece for corralling all those toys!
What an adorable toy storage you made Heather I just love it! The colors are perfect and Reno is a doll!
