When my husband and I first were married, I have to admit I was not the best cook. Sure I could make a few basic things but my recipe list was short and very boring. I started poking around online and looking up recipes on Food Network and allrecipes.com. I would search for hours on my “web tv” (did anyone else have one of these?). I stumbled across a website one day for the Neiman Marcus Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe. According to this article online a woman and her daughter were having lunch at a Neiman Marcus.
They had cookies for dessert and loved the recipe so much they asked the waiter for the recipe. The recipe was given to them, only to find out later they were charged $250 on their bill for the recipe. I was intrigued by this and figured if the recipe was worth $250 it must be good. I made up a batch of the Neiman Marcus Chocolate Chip Cookies and it has been my husbands favorite ever since.
After doing a little research and with the help of snopes.com, it appears that story was a hoax and just not true at all. It’s a funny story if you think about it. I wish I knew where exactly the recipe originated from because it is a family favorite and it is our go to recipe for chocolate chip cookies.
If you have never made them from this crazy story, please give them a try just once. You won’t regret it I promise. The mixture of the 2 different chocolates is not completely necessary , but it really does add that little extra something.

Hi Heather, I have this same recipe in my collection of recipes, except it says 3 C blended oatmeal. I lost this recipe for a while & I found it again. I made these cookies a few years ago from a Pinterest recipe of the same name, since I had misplaced mine. I probably blended the oatmeal & then measured because the cookie dough was way too dry. How do you measure the oatmeal ? Before or after blending? Thank you for sharing!
This is our favorite so glad someone else loves them as much as we do!! I have always put oats in the blender to the 5 cup mark then blend it. Perfect every time. Hope this helps.
… maybe 3 C blended = 5 C unblended oatmeal
