Making this cute little Valentine’s Day Candy Dish was not only easy to make, it was also a lot of fun. I was surprised just how quickly it went together. The longest step was waiting for the glue to dry.

How To Make A Mason Jar Candy Dish

I now have a fun candy dish in the center of my dining room table that everyone can enjoy. Here is how we put it together.

Supplies:

Directions:

Paint the outside of the terra cotta pot with white acrylic craft paint. I did two coats for good coverage. Set it aside to dry.

Once the white paint is dry, dab a small amount of red paint onto your paint brush. On a clean, dry paper towel, wipe most of the paint off of the brush. The more paint you leave on the brush, the heavier your distress marks will be.

Swipe the barely loaded paintbrush along the sides and edges of the pot until you like the effect. If the red is a bit heavy-handed, simply go back over that area with more white paint.

Assembling Your Candy Dish

Once the pot has dried completely, secure the wide mouth mason jar to the bottom of the pot using e6000 glue. Set your candy dish aside to dry completely. I waited about 3 hours before decorating. The paint and glue were plenty dry at this point. If you want to be certain the glue is dry, wait 12 + hours or overnight.

Decorate your Mason Jar Valentine Candy Dish any way that you like. I added a fun glitter vinyl decal that I found in Cricut Access. The vinyl I used is Transparent Glitter Vinyl from StyleTech Crafts. You can see it up close in this I Love You Valentine’s Day Art.

What I love about this simple mason jar craft, is that it can be customized and decorated for any holiday or event. Change out the ribbon and the decals, or simply keep it neutral and let your sweet treats show your holiday spirit.

  1. This is so cute. It looks like a little gumball machine. I love the jar and your glitter vinyl shows up really well in the photo. I love the glitter and metallic vinyls they are so fun to work with.
