Something about the weather changing once spring hits always puts me in an “Eat Better” kind of mood! Making fruit smoothies is one way to cut back on your sugar intake, but still enjoy a delicious refreshing dessert in the summer months. Our Favorite Strawberry Banana Smoothie Recipe is always a crowd pleaser!
Made with fresh fruit, low-fat yogurt and low-fat milk, you get all the satisfaction of a sweet dessert without all the calories and sugar. We are also a fan of changing up the fruit and yogurt flavors to make other great fruit smoothie combinations. Oh yeah, one other thing … It’s super easy to make! Throw everything in your blender and let er’ rip! Creamy! Frothy! Fruity! Delicious! What more can you ask for in a summertime dessert?
Ingredients:
- 1 Cup Low-Fat Strawberry Banana Yogurt
- 1 – 2 Cups Low-Fat Milk
- 1 Pint Fresh Strawberries, cleaned and chopped (or 2 Cups frozen strawberries, you can eliminate the ice if you use frozen berries!)
- 2 Ripe bananas
- 8-10 Ice cubes
Directions:
Add yogurt, then milk, then fruit, topping off with the ice to the blender. Adding the liquid first makes the smoothie blend up a bit smoother in my opinion. Blend on high until it is the consistency you like. I started with 1 cup of milk, blended for 3 minutes and added a bit more milk to thin it out the way we like it.
You can see just how creamy and frothy it blended up. I ended up adding 2 full cups of milk, and it filled my entire blender (just over 6 cups)
Some of the sprinkles fell in the glass! But just look at the consistency of Our Favorite Strawberry Banana Smoothie!! It’s perfection! Well, I think so anyway haha… And I didn’t hear any complaints from the teens!
