This green grape tart is way easier to make than it looks. I promise. I’m a huge fan of making any recipe that seems fancier or harder to make than it actually is. Because, let’s be honest, we all need a ‘wow’ dish once in a while, right?
If what you’re looking for a delicious yet not-hard-to-make dessert. This is a no-fail recipe. My favorite thin about this recipe? It uses grapes! Sure, we all love a berry for fresh peach tart, but the seasons don’t always allow for that. And inflations being what it is, well… You get the picture 😉
What You’ll Need for this Grape Tart
Gelatin. Gelatin might get a bad wrap, but it’s often needed in pie recipes to help the filling set and hold its shape. It helps to create a firmer texture and prevent this delicious filling from becoming runny. In addition to helping the pie hold its shape, it also adds a glossy sheen to the filling.
Granulated sugar. There are tons of different types of sugars out there, but in general, for this recipe, I recommend using traditional white granulated sugar. If you want to use non-refined sugar, try coconut sugar or one of its substitutes.
White Port. If you’re not a Port drinker, you might not be familiar with white Port. The main difference is the types of grapes that are used: white versus red. But with white Port, grapes are typically harvested earlier in the season than those used for red port, which results in a wine with a lighter color and lower tannin content. It has a fresh, fruity flavor with notes of citrus and honey.
Red Port, on the other hand, is made from red grapes that are left on the vine longer and are often picked later in the season when they are fully ripe. This results in a wine with a darker color, higher alcohol content, and more tannins than white port. Red Port is also often aged in barrels for longer. This gives it a more complex flavor with notes of dark fruit, chocolate, and spices.
Lemon juice. Use fresh lemon juice if you can. But whatever you do, don’t neglect this key ingredient. It helps cut through the sugar and heavier ingredients such as the cream cheese and butter.
Cream cheese. You can’t go wrong with adding cream cheese to anything, in my humble opinion. Make sure to let your cream cheese come to room temperature before adding it to the recipe.
Powdered sugar. If you didn’t know, you can actually make your own powdered sugar! All you need is a bit of cornstarch and regular granulated sugar.
Green grapes. The star ingredient of this tart recipe. Make sure you purchase seedless grapes. The last thing you want is a ruined tart full of bitter seeds.
Walnuts. If you’re not a fan of walnuts, you can always use almonds. But the buttery flavor of walnuts pairs perfectly with the cream cheese. It makes almost a shortbread-like crust.
Flour. Pastry flour is the best type of flour for this recipe. But if you’re going gluten-free in this recipe, I recommend using Bob’s Red Mill 1-1 gluten-free flour. It’s my go-to.
Butter. Make sure you’re using unsalted butter. I’m a huge fan of a quality Irish butter, such as Kerrygold Pure.
Egg yolk. You only need one egg for this. So maybe make yourself an omelet as well with one extra egg white in it!
Making This Green Grape Tart
My favorite part of this tart is that there isn’t any dough rolling. I’ll admit that the process of rolling out a sheet of dough has forever terrified me. I’ll do anything to get out of it. But with this recipe, there’s no need!

I made this last night, and thank you! I had planned to make a raspberry tart and then got to the store and saw the price of berries. OMG! So there I am, on my phone looking for an alternative. PRoduce prices are insane lately! I found this. It was a life saver since it was my boyfriend’s bday. Many thanks!
