Me and Tequila!
I must admit, I am no expert when it comes to tequila.I’m sure I have mentioned it before, but I am a Captain girl through and through. To be 100% honest, I have never really given tequila much of a chance until now. I will admit it .. I was SCARED to drink tequila (LOL). I am here to confess I was completely and 100% wrong! I am now a tequila girl! In moderation of course.
When I was looking for this weeks cocktail for the Fall Cocktail Challenge, (you can see all TEN of this week’s fabulous Fall Cocktails at the bottom of this post) I wanted something fun and unique using apple cider. The woman at the liquor store gave me the idea of a margarita. It sounded so good, I couldn’t pass up the chance to give it a try.

Apple Cider Margarita
There are so many delicious flavors in this cocktail, you would think it was complex and complicated. It is actually very simple to make and can be made one glass at a time or in a large pitcher for a group.
As with any great margarita, you have to start with a rimmed glass. In a classic margarita, you would rim the glass with coarse salt. For an Apple Cider Margarita, you simply must use cinnamon sugar. The cinnamon goes hand in hand with the apple cider.
I have already told you how much I love a pretty rimmed glass. The purple sugar crystals for my Candy Corn Vodka and the toasted coconut for my Coconut White Russians are a dead giveaway.
Ingredients:
- 1 Cup (8 oz.) Good Apple Cider
- 2 oz. Tequila
- 1 oz. Triple Sec or Orange Liquor
- Ice
Directions:
Add ice to a cocktail shaker. Pour the apple cider, tequila and triple sec in the shaker. Shake well for 15 to 20 seconds.
Pour into your perfectly rimmed margarita glass and serve immediately.
Garnish with a lime wedge and a cinnamon stick. This is not a must, but it sure does make it look pretty. You know what they say, you eat drink with your eyes first!
Crisp, Refreshing Apple Cider Margarita
This Apple Cider Margarita is so crisp and refreshing, you almost can’t taste the tequila in the drink. Which could be very dangerous after 2 or 3. We enjoyed it very much, and plan to make these on a regular basis. My girlfriend suggested making these warm too. I will have to try that and let you know how it turns out.
