Infused Vodka
The best thing about vodka is that it can take on just about any flavor that you add to it. Everything from gummy bears to candy corn, your favorite brand of vodka will absorb all of the flavors of whatever you soak in it.
Since it is close to Halloween, I decided to grab one of my favorite fall treats to add to the vodka. Candy Corn! Now I know not everyone is a fan of candy corn. It is one of those treats that you either love or hate, there really is no in between. If you are a candy corn lover, you will really enjoy this cocktail. I must warn you, just like candy corn in its original form, this drink is very sweet.
Ingredients
You only need two ingredients to make Candy Corn Vodka. Candy corn and vodka. It is as simple as that.
You will also need a mason jar with a lid to store the vodka.
How To Prepare
Put 1 Cup of the candy corn into the mason jar. Fill the mason jar to the top with your favorite brand of vodka. Set it aside to sit for 1 to 5 days.
I chose to let mine sit for the full 5 days. Here are a few photos of the process.
Twenty Four Hours Later
It reminds me of those growing rocks from way back in the day. As the sugars dissolve and separate, it looks like they are growing. You can see the candy corn bits still sitting on the bottom after 24 hours. We almost have Candy Corn Vodka!!
Candy Corn Vodka Is Ready After 5 Days!
After 3 days I gave the jar a shake and let it continue to infuse. After 5 days, it is ready! Just look at the bright vibrant orange color! Almost all of the candy corn has dissolved. You can see just a small amount at the base of the mason jar.
Using a small strainer, strain the Candy Corn Vodka so there are no pieces left over. It is now ready to serve.
How To Serve Candy Corn Vodka
There is no right or wrong way to serve Candy Corn Vodka! You can serve it chilled as a shot, or mixed up nicely with lemon-lime soda. Either way, it will be sweet, strong and oh so delicious.
Candy Corn Vodka Shooters!
You can’t go wrong with vodka straight up! Take the extra time to rim your glass with purple sugar crystals. I dipped the shot glasses and martini glasses in simple syrup then into the sugar crystals. If you don’t have simple syrup, any sticky liquid (even corn syrup) will work.
Mix It Up!
Not a fan of vodka shooters? No problem! Mix it up with your favorite lemon-lime soda. Half Candy Corn Vodka, half lemon-lime soda. Give the vodka a good shake in a cocktail shaker with ice to chill it before adding it to the glass. I did add a drop of grenadine to the bottom of the glass just for looks. It is Halloween after all, and we need a little spook factor here.
Of all the photos I took, this one was my favorite! I just love the purple sugar around the glass filled with bright orange yumminess! We enjoyed these drinks so much that we have another batch infusing on the counter as we speak.
