Affordable Fall Decor – Festive Decorative Wall Art
What You Will Need
- Silver Metal Serving Trays (I got mine at the Dollar Tree. I have linked to some Amazon finds for your convenience HERE)
- White Spray Paint
- Vinyl Cutouts (You can also use your Cricut Explore Air 2 and create your own)
- Craft Paint ( I used Moss Green)
Cover the silver-plated tray with 1 – 2 coats of white spray paint. Set aside to dry completely (for best results, let the trays dry overnight).
Apply your vinyl cut-outs or sticker letters to the center of the tray.
Using a dry stencil brush, gently dab using a small amount of paint all around the vinyl letters. Start with a little paint and gradually add more to get the look you like. Set the tray aside to dry. Craft paint dries pretty quickly, this shouldn’t take longer than an hour or so.
Carefully remove the vinyl letters using a Cricut weeding tool or a pair of tweezers.
Display your beautiful fall platter on plate stands, or you can add some removable wall adhesive to hang them on the wall.
I love the way these platters look right inside my entryway now. I pulled out most of my fall decorations this week, including the Give Thanks Fall Plate and the Fall Banner. My Mantel is starting to look very festive.
As promised, here are all SIX amazing Fall Dollar Store DIY’s.

These turned out really pretty. They would look nice on the wall behind my buffet in the dining room. Now I’ve added one more project to my Fall to-do list. So many good ideas in this Blog Hop! I like how easy this is and affordable.
Thank you Shirley! I debated on putting on the wall, but decided they looked nice on the entryway table. All of the projects are so unique, I love them all.
Wow, Heather! These don’t look like they’re from the dollar store! You did an amazing job transforming the platters into lovely fall decor!
Thank you Gail! I am enjoying them in my entryway right now.
What a cute idea to paint them with the vinyl cutouts. It makes it look embossed and much ore expensive than Dollar Store decor. Great job!
Thank you Toni! Dollar store crafts have come a long way.
I love to use platters as decor. They are so fun to decorate and these are so perfect for fall. You always get a great finished product using vinyl as a stencil or as mask. These turned out perfectly!
Thank you Michelle! So many things you can do with vinyl. I love the way they look in my entryway.
These turned out so pretty! I can’t wait to try this. I’ve already go some of those platters on hand. I love the colors you used, too.
Thank you! I am very happy with how they turned out.
