Now that the teens are back in school, the weather is showing signs of cooler days and nights, football has started, and the leaves are turning vibrant shades of red and orange, it is time to get the house in order and start some deep fall cleaning. A few times a year I like to do a thorough deep clean throughout the house, just to get myself and my home ready for the upcoming season change. Last year I shared with you some of the best Spring Cleaning Tips, I have also shared with you how to get your home ready for winter. Fall is in the air, and it is the perfect time for a #FallReset. What exactly is a Fall Reset? I look at it as resetting your home to prepare and get ready for the upcoming holiday season. Grab a nice hot cup of Vanilla Chai, a warm cozy blanket, and let’s talk fall cleaning tips.
This review was made possible by iConnect Influencer Management, Febreze and Swiffer was compensated for my participation in this campaign, but all opinions are 100% mine.
We all clean our homes every day, but how often do you give it a full deep clean from top to bottom? Wash your drapes, vacuum behind the fridge, and flip and refresh your mattress. Sometimes the biggest jobs get pushed off so much that we actually forget they need to be done on a regular basis. With a little help from Swiffer and Febreze, the larger chores that we dread become just a little bit easier to manage. We are starting our big #FallReset this week around our house, here is a helpful list of fall cleaning areas you should remember to tackle before the season starts.
Fall Cleaning Tips For Your Home
Outside the home
I like to start from the outside of my home and work my way in. The weather is still a little warm in the afternoon, so working in the early morning hours or after dinner hours is ideal for me. Today we are cleaning off the front porch. Putting away all of the garden tools and giving the porch a good sweep and wash. It’s time to hang that cute Fall Wreath and start the front porch decorating.
Clean the windows – Be sure to clean the windows inside and out. To make it a little easier, you can use a squeegee with an extended handle to get those really hard-to-reach spots.
Clean the gutters and drain spouts – remove any debris that may have accumulated over the summer.
Car Maintenance – Wash, vacuum, and declutter your car. Spray a little Febreze air effects to freshen the inside. Check fluids and schedule any maintenance that may be needed before the cooler months.
Inside the home
Think about the areas that we don’t normally think of cleaning on a regular basis.
Curtains, drapes, and mini-blinds – Wash and press curtains and drapes. Dust and clean all mini blinds. Febreze fabric refresher is the perfect deodorizer for your curtains. This will keep them fresh and odor-free all year long.
Shampoo your carpets – If you don’t own your own carpet shampooer, you can usually find a local grocery store that will rent them out to you for the day. Spray with Febreze fabric refresher to keep them smelling great.
Vacuum – Behind and under furniture. Don’t forget your appliances! Using your attachment hose, vacuum the back of your fridge too. You will be surprised how much dust accumulates back there.
Dust – Run your duster over the walls, air vents, and even closet shelves. Remember your home has been closed up with the A/C blowing all summer long (at least my house has anyway – it has been a HOT summer!)
Mattress Maintenance – Flip your mattress, vacuum and deodorize with Febreze fabric refresher. Replace your sheets and bedding with warm comfy blankets for the upcoming cooler months.
Deep clean trash bins – Wash, sanitize and deodorize with Febreze air effects all of your trash bins inside and out. Let them dry completely before using.
Deep clean floors – Using your Swiffer Wet Jet, deep clean all hardwood, tile, and linoleum floors. Life makes them messy, Swiffer makes it easy to clean it and keep it clean.
Clean your oven/stove – Give your oven a good deep clean. Don’t forget the burners and drip pans if you have them.
Declutter – Remove any expired items. This can be food, medicine, batteries etc. File all paid bills, important documents, and school papers.
Bring on the fall gear! – Time to put away the flip flops (yes, I said it) and bring out the boots and real shoes. Pack away tank tops and capris and make some room for cozy hoodies and fluffy sweaters. I know it’s hard, but you can do it.
I don’t know about you, but when my home is all fresh and clean, I feel so much better, and I really do have more energy and creativity to do other things. Something about these fall months bring out the best in me. Tackling the big chores right away will free up so much more time to do things with the family, around the house, and with my friends.
