We all know that feeling. It’s 7 o’clock at night, and your child so kindly informs you that they need 300 Valentine treats for his class TOMORROW! Ok, maybe 25 is a more realistic number, but it certainly seems like 300 when you’re told at the last minute. With 4 kids, this has happened to me more than a time or two. Dressing up a simple batch of rice krispie treats is quick, easy and oh so festive for any Last Minute Valentine Treats.

What you will need:
6 cups Rice Krispies Cereal
10 oz. mini marshmallows
3 Tablespoons butter
Valentine candy for decorating
Prepare the rice krispie treats according to the box instructions. (You can find the recipe HERE also)
After the marshmallow and butter have melted (BEFORE adding the cereal) add a few drops of red food coloring to the marshmallow mix. I used 8 drops. Mix it well. You will want the color to be slightly darker than the color you want your treats to be. When you add the cereal in, it will lighten the color just a little bit.
After mixing in your cereal completely, press the mixture into a half sheet pan. This will make the treats thinner than your average rice krispie treats.
Let them cool to the touch, but not completely or they will be hard to work with.
Using your favorite heart-shaped cookie cutter, press firmly into the treats. Continue until you have as many as you need, or as many as you can.
Once the treats are cool, decorate with Wilton melting chocolate and your favorite Valentine candy decorations.
For a fun twist, insert a lollipop stick into the bottom of the heart or attach it to the back with a little bit of melted chocolate.
They look amazing!! Remember the commercial from wayyyy back in the day? Throw a little flour on your face, toss your hair around and make them think you slaved in the kitchen for hours! Heehee, I always loved that commercial!
