Country Style Denim Fall Wreath

We absolutely adore wreaths here at Daily DIY Life! Something about seeing a nice welcoming wreath on the front door to someones home is very eye catching and inviting. We do try to change our wreath out each season or Holiday depending on the time of year. A fall favorite this year is an adorable country style Denim Wreath. I just love the mix of the different shades of blue from the denim fabric, matched with the rustic look of the flannel to accent all the way around. But, my favorite part of this project is that it cost LESS THAN $3 for me to make this!

Do you have a pair of jeans hanging around in your closet that just don’t fit any more? That’s what I had! I had 2 actually one light colored denim and one dark colored denim. The contrast in colors add to the character of the wreath.

My hubby also had a flannel short sleeved shirt I bought for him last winter, he wasn’t to crazy about the color and never wore it. I think that makes it fair game for craft projects! Don’t you?

Here is how we made it:

Supplies:

  • 10 inch Straw Wreath form (do not remove the plastic)
  • Denim Fabric (We used 2  and 1/2 pant legs for this project) – Cut into strips (3″ x 1″)
  • Flannel Fabric – ripped into strips 2 ” wide
  • Twine
  • Hot Glue
  • Screw Driver (or a knitting needle would work too)

Place your screwdriver in the center of a denim strip. Force the center of the fabric into the straw wreath form. Leaving a good amount sticking up from the wreath.

Continue to do this until your entire wreath form is covered with the denim strips. This will take time, and is best to work on a hard surface so you can have a little leverage when pushing the fabric into the wreath. I like to start from the outside and move to the center with the main fabric color, Leaving gaps along the way that I will fill in later with a contrasting color.

After your wreath is covered with the denim fabric, hot glue the flannel to your wreath wrapping it as you go.

I used one of the pant leg hems for my hanger. I just tied it in a knot and put the knot part behind the wreath so you cant see it.

Add an accent bow using the flannel strips and twine (you can use raffia instead, it looks great both ways). To make the bow I made 8 large loops and tied them in the center. Wrapped the center with twine and hot glued it to the wreath form.

This project was super easy to make (a little time consuming but that is ok!) I had all my supplies already on hand except the wreath form! Which I paid $2.47 (if I remember correctly) at Walmart. If you were to purchase the fabric to make one of these cute wreaths, check out the clearance or discount bins also. It doesn’t have to be denim it can be any fabric you like. I just love the denim and think it gives it that country style I like to display in the fall.
