Helpful Tools for this project: Hot Glue Gun, Cutting Mat, Paint Brushes
Materials needed:
- 4 wooden clothes pins
- Acrylic Paint (red, white, black, yellow)
- Magnetic strips
- 4 x 6 Acrylic picture frame
- Polka dot scrapbook paper
- Red Ribbon
- Clear gel pen
- Sticky note pad
- Disney Mickey head stickers
- Mod Podge
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
To make the magnets:
Paint all 4 clothespins, one in each color. Let them dry.
Using the polka dot scrapbook paper, cut a strip 1/2 inch wide. Each clothespin will need a piece 1/2 inch wide by 3/4 inch long for the end of the pins. Once the paint has dried, use mod podge to secure the paper to the end of the clothespins. Trim off or fold over any excess paper on the edges.
Apply one coat of Mod Podge over the entire clothespin, including over the top of the paper you just added.
Once the Mod Podge has dried, place your Mickey Mouse stickers on the ends with a drop of hot glue.
Hot glue a piece of magnetic strip to the back of the clothespin.
To make the memo holder:
Cut a piece of scrapbook paper to fit inside your acrylic frame. You can tip the frame over and trace the outside edges on your paper. Just be sure to trim along the inside of the trace lines to fit. Slide the paper into the photo frame.
Add a red ribbon along the top using hot glue.
Attach 4 matching Mickey stickers to the side of the frame using hot glue.
Place your sticky notepad onto the acrylic frame. It will stick on its own. Be sure to leave room to attach the pen along the side of your sticky note pad.

To make the pen:
Unscrew the tip of the pen and remove the inside ink tube.
Cut a strip of matching paper no more than 1/2 inch wide, and the length of the pen barrel.
Roll the paper around the ink cartridge and slide it back into the barrel. Trim off any excess and screw the tip back on.
This can get tricky if your paper is thick. Keep practicing, you will get it.
Hot glue a Mickey sticker to the top of the cap.
Hot glue a strip of magnet to the back of the pen and next to the sticky note on the frame. This will keep your pen in place on your desk set.
There you have it! Your very own personalized DIY Desk Set. You can make them any style or pattern that you like. I made this purple and black set for another girlfriend last week.
This one used fabric trim instead of stickers. There are so many wonderful options to customize your DIY Desk Set. I can’t wait to see what you come up with! Be sure to share your photos on Daily DIY Life Facebook Page!
