How to Make a Sweet Tart Shot {or Martini}

Before you call a Sweet Tart Shot a “girly” drink or cocktail, hear me out. (Also, nothing wrong with anything girly. “Girls run the world,” don’t there?) But seriously. Yes, this shot is sweet. But it also has a great balance of sour to it. So you don’t feel like you’re drinking your child’s juice box.

What is not to like about a Sweet Tart Shot? Not much. This is one cocktail that has a bunch of my favorites liquors: vodka, amaretto, and blue Curaçao.

If you like daiquiri drinks, a sweet tart shot should definitely become one of your go to drinks. I personally love this flavor of drinks.

What is a Sweet Tart Shot?

You might think sweet tarts are included in the list of ingredients for this recipe, but they’re not. The only reason this cocktail is called a sweet tart shot is because you can make it in all the different colors sweet tarts are available.

Sweet Tarts serve as inspiration for this tasty drink – kids love them (Sweet Tarts not the drink!) because of their vibrant colors and adults love them for the same reason.

This recipe is simple to follow and only requires a few ingredients that you likely already have on hand. So, next time you’re looking for a fun and festive drink to make, give this sweet tart shot a try!

How strong is a Sweet Tart Cocktail?

Great question. The answer to this is moderately strong. I wouldn’t say a Sweet Tart Shot is going to give you goosebumps. But it is hard alcohol.

If you’re worried about getting too tipsy too fast (or tipsy at all) off of shots, here’s some helpful guidelines to think about:

  • Consider every shot you have is a single drink (just because it’s small doesn’t mean it’s not might)
  • According to Tipsy Bartender, a Sweet Tart Martini is moderate in strength.

Here’s a great article that breaks down how to measure the alcohol content of a cocktail

Overall, and I am not a doctor or a bartender, I would say a Sweet Tart Shot is moderately strong. I found this helpful graphic from BlackTailNYC that might help you visualize the alcohol strength of a Sweet Tart Shot. Take a look below.

How many calories does a Sweet Tart Shot have?

This is also a great question. According to research I’ve done on the internet (remember, I am not a nutritionist), Sweet Tart Shots have between 125 calories and 170 calories.

Here is a pretty cool website that helps you calculate calories in your alcohol and what it compares to in food.

How long does it take to make a Sweet Tart Shot?

No time at all! Ok, maybe a little time… It only takes around 3-5 minutes to make one. I’ll be honest, I didn’t time myself. But they’re super easy to stir up!

Where to find ingredients for Sweet Tart Shot

Most of the alcoholic ingredients (also the Blue Curacao) for a Sweet Tart Shot you can find at your local liquor store. The simple syrup and Blue Curacao you can also find on Amazon. I’ve added links to the ingredients below to help out.
