What is color change vinyl?

Patriotic Glasses Using Color Change Vinyl!

With the 4th of July holiday approaching fast, I wanted to create a fun set of glasses to use at our family party this year. I was looking for something unique that would wow our guests as much as the festive fireworks display. So, why not add some fireworks to the glasses themselves. Using the color change vinyl adds that extra element of surprise when their cold drinks are poured. To see the vinyl decals change from clear/white to a fun, festive color almost immediately is an exciting touch.

What type of surface can you put StyleTech Craft Color Change Vinyl On?

Any vinyl works best on a clean, smooth surface. For the color change effect to show best, always use in a vessel that liquid is added to such as:

Glassware: Stemmed wine glasses, Stemless wine glasses, Cocktail Glasses, Drinking Glasses, Mason Jars

Plastic Drink Glasses: Kids Sippie Cups, Tumblers, Water Bottles

Ceramic: Coffee mugs, cereal bowls

Creating Unique and Fun Patriotic Wine Glasses!

To make these fun, Patriotic Wine Glasses, I started in Cricut Design Space. With over 100,000 free images when you subscribe to design space, I knew I could find some fun firework images for my wine glasses.

Once I chose the fireworks and the 4th of July images, I resized them to fit the glasses perfectly.

When cutting StyleTech Craft Color Change Vinyl, you will want to select a custom material so it cuts through perfectly. I used my Cricut Joy to cut the color change vinyl. The material setting I chose was Premium Vinyl Frosted, regular pressure.

After the images are cut, weeded, and prepped with the transfer tape on top, do some extra burnishing over the top of the transfer tape to make sure the color change vinyl adheres really well to it. You can also use strong grip transfer tape if you have extra patience when it comes time to remove the transfer tape from the glass. It is really strong and does not like to release the vinyl without some elbow grease.
