Decorating with Boxwood – Easy DIY Decor Farmhouse Style

If you are a fan of Easy DIY Decor, these Faux Boxwood Wreaths are the perfect project for you. Add a little Farmhouse Style that you can enjoy all year. Last year when we were giving our kitchen a must needed update, we crafted up a few Faux Boxwood Wreaths to add a pop of green to the walls. I love them so much against the crisp white wood in the kitchen. You won’t believe just how easy they are to make. A few sticks of faux boxwood, mason jar lids and a little hot glue. That is all you will need to create this super easy DIY decor piece.

Decorating with Boxwood

Decorating with boxwood is not a new trend. This Easy DIY Decor element is perfect for many different decorating styles. Living boxwood bushes are very popular in formal and exquisite landscaping designs, country decor, and farmhouse style decorating. Since I live in a rental, I don’t plan on planting any boxwood bushes anytime soon. Country decor is beautiful, it is just not for me. Farmhouse style decor is right up my alley. Clean, classic, often rustic looking decor is something I have grown very fond of over the years. Using faux boxwood makes it easy to add a little touch of nature that will last forever in my home. The fact that I have a non-existent green thumb, also makes growing my own impossible.

Using your wire cutters, remove the smaller branches from the boxwood stem.

Starting from the inside, glue the boxwood pieces all the way around the mason jar lid. I put mine on going clockwise so they laid slightly on top of each other. Cover the inside and outside until you get the look and fullness you are happy with.

At this point, your wreath is basically done (I told you it was an Easy DIY Decor piece!). The only thing left is to add a burlap ribbon or any decorative elements you would like. I used a piece of burlap that I had left over from the Burlap Easter Bunnies I made earlier this year.

It adds just the right touch of green to my almost pure white kitchen. A red bow at the top or bottom would also look adorable when we start our Christmas decorating.

There was a lot of the Faux Boxwood left over after making the wreaths. I added some rocks to a small fishbowl (both that I picked up from the Dollar Tree) and arranged the boxwood stems in the center. I love the look of this Easy DIY Decor also. The greenery makes the rocks pop, and it fits in nicely with the farmhouse style we are going for in the kitchen.

  1. Wow these do look easy! I am going to try these for sure. I wonder what I could use to make some that are a little larger. Maybe an embroidery hoop or something? Love these! Thanks for sharing.
