American Flag Kids Craft! An Easy Afternoon Project

It is the perfect time of year for some fun and easy American Flag Kids Crafts! A few weeks ago we shared with you a much larger version of an American Flag Project using recycled old fence posts and some spray paint. (If you missed that project you can check it out HERE.) Today we are making the mini version. Perfect for kids’ projects, or classroom activities. I even got the teens involved in this one, and they had a blast. Besides being so easy and quick to put together, you can find the craft sticks at the Dollar Store! Even better when it is cheap affordable! Here is how we made them…

What you will need:

Directions:

You will need 8 Craft Sticks. 6 for the flag and 2 for the back support.

Using your Craft Paint, paint 3 sticks red and 3 sticks white. Let them dry.

Lay them upside down alternating red and white like the American Flag. Glue the 2 support sticks to the back of your flag. Trim the excess from the sticks, or leave it hanging over so they can be used to stick into a plant or in the ground.

Once the red and white stripes are dry, add a square of blue paint on the right hand side to 1/3 of the first 3 sticks. We hand painted the stars on, but you could also buy foil stickers at the Dollar store as well. Kids love stickers! Heck, adults love stickers too right?

We added a coat of Folk Art Extreme Glitter to the stripes on our flag. Look how much bling it adds! I love glitter and I love BLING! Makes everything prettier don’t you think?

Now wasn’t that simple!? This would also make a cute Father’s Day “card” or placeholder for your next Patriotic Event. Simply use a Sharpie and handwrite someone’s name or a special message right to the front of the flag.
