Tuesday Tips – A little bit of everything

It’s time for Tuesday tips!! You have made it through Monday! It’s all down hill from here!

Today is Tuesday July 15th, and here are your easy quick tips to keep your home organized and fingerprint free!

Enjoy the day…Take a moment to soak in some sunshine!

Stainless Steel: Over time your stainless appliances can become dull. Here is a quick solution to keep them shiny and pretty like they did when you bought them!
Mild dish soap (such as Dawn) warm water and a few drops of baby oil. Will make your stainless shine like a sparkling diamond.
Glass cleaner also works well for those tiny little finger prints.

Microwave ovens: It never fails, left over spaghetti always splatters to the roof of the microwave! Or like in my case EVERYTHING splatters to the roof! I dont think anyone in our house knows how to cover a dish when microwaving something. Here is a great way to loosen all that greasy stuck on food from the inside of your microwave.

  • In a microwave safe cup or bowl (pyrex works well) Place 1 Cup vinegar and 1 Cup hot water.
  • Cook the liquid  in your microwave for 5 – 10 minutes (depending on  how powerful your microwave is.)
  • Remove the container from  the microwave… USE AN OVEN MITT!  THIS WILL BE VERY HOT!!
  • Wipe the inside with a wet rag. The stuck on food should come off with ease!

Dishes:  It is always best to do your dishes after EVERY meal. This helps free up space in your kitchen. And it will always make your home feel neater even if you haven’t done a deep clean in days (weeks maybe!)

………………………………

Set a timer:  Experts say that any cleaning project should take no more than 20 minutes. (They obviously have never visited my home!) But I have tried this method, and it’s true! I now have a timer and I use it often. Set your timer for 10 minutes to start with. Try to work fast to see if you can beat the timer. This is good for the kids too. Makes it more like a game than a chore.

After 10 minutes, if your task is not complete you can decide if you want a 5 minute break then continue, or reset the timer for another 10 minutes and just get the job done.
Don’t overwhelm yourself with chores. That is the number one cause of procrastination.
Set your timer! …ready….set…. GO!

Find some great tunes!! – Music is a great motivator to get people moving.  When your jamming out to some great music, your body just wants to keep going. It really does give you a burst of energy. Classic rock is always a good choice. You know what the dwarfs say! ……Whistle while you work!! 🙂
